Pilates is a body-conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. Targeting deep postural muscles, it works by building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. It helps to reshape your body which will become longer, leaner and more toned. It will also improve your posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility, and is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

Pilates if perfect for all ages, for men and women. It is particularly good for those with back, neck or joint problems, anyone that has had a baby (6 weeks ago or 60 years ago!) and people wanting to improve their general fitness.

Body Control Pilates is based on the work of Joseph Pilates who developed his Method around the time of the First World War. The Body Control Pilates Association was set up in the UK in 1996 with the goal of bringing the benefits of Pilates to all.

The organisation has an excellent reputation for the effectiveness and quality - teachers work to a code of practise which limits class size to 12 and stipulates continued professional development.
